About Us
The Ameliorate Project is a community-led initiative dedicated to removing barriers to essential HIV prevention, treatment, and care for hidden LGBTQI+ individuals in Ghana.
We understand the real challenges — stigma, fear of exposure, legal risks, and limited safe access to services. That is why we created a fully anonymous, digital-first ecosystem that puts your privacy and safety first.
Through our secure telemedicine platform, Synapse, we connect you discreetly to affirming healthcare providers, self-testing options, medication support, and wellness resources — all without requiring names, IDs, or in-person visits.
Founded in Kumasi by passionate advocates and allies from within the community, we exist so that no one has to choose between their health and their safety.
Better, Without Barriers.

About Synapse
Synapse is our secure, fully anonymous digital platform designed to provide safe access to HIV prevention, testing, and care services for hidden and marginalized LGBTQI+ communities in Ghana. With Synapse, users can engage entirely through generated unique IDs — no personal data is collected, no face-to-face interaction is required, and all communications are end-to-end encrypted.
The platform offers telemedicine consultations with affirming clinicians, self-testing kits for HIV and Hepatitis (delivered discreetly), PrEP/PEP initiation and follow-up, ART adherence reminders and refills, and nutritional support to accelerate viral suppression and sustain U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable).
By eliminating stigma, discrimination, and exposure risks, Synapse empowers users to manage their health privately and independently, right where they are.

To ensure that every LGBTQI+ person in Ghana can access life-saving HIV services — PrEP, PEP, ART, testing, counseling, and support — anonymously, safely, and without judgment.
We believe health is a right, not a risk.
By building an integrated, anonymity-first digital health ecosystem, we aim to:
- Reduce fear and stigma that keeps people from seeking care
- Increase timely access to prevention and treatment
- Support adherence and overall wellbeing through discreet, reliable tools
- Empower hidden communities with knowledge, resources, and connection
We work quietly but relentlessly — because your health matters, and your privacy is non-negotiable.

HIV & AIDS — What You Need to Know
Clear, affirming information to help you stay informed and take control of your health.
PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis)
A daily pill that greatly reduces the risk of getting HIV when taken as prescribed. PrEP is for people who are HIV-negative and may be exposed to HIV. It is highly effective when used consistently.
PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis)
Emergency medication started within 72 hours after a possible exposure to HIV. PEP is taken for 28 days and can prevent infection if started in time. The sooner you start, the better.
ART & U=U
Antiretroviral therapy (ART) treats HIV and allows people to live long, healthy lives. When treatment keeps the virus undetectable, it cannot be passed on to partners (U=U: Undetectable = Untransmittable).
Testing — Know Your Status
HIV testing is confidential and can be done at a clinic or at home with a self-test kit. Knowing your status helps you get the right care and protect your health. We support discreet self-testing and secure result handling through Synapse.
